First Star Sports, LLC ("First Star Sports," "we," "us," or "our") operates a web-based sports league management platform available at firststarsports.com (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when organizations ("Organizations") and their administrators, scorekeepers, and other authorized users ("Users") access the Platform.
By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Provided by Organizations
When an Organization subscribes to the Platform, they or their authorized administrators provide information including:
- Organization name, address, and contact information
- Billing and payment information (processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment card numbers)
- Names, email addresses, and credentials for administrator and scorekeeper accounts
1.2 Information Provided About Participants
Organizations and their administrators may input information about league participants ("Players") through the Platform, including:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- Sex
- Postal code
- USA Hockey registration number or other league registration identifiers
- Jersey number and roster status
Organizations are responsible for obtaining any necessary consents from Players or their parents or guardians before submitting this information to the Platform. See Section 5 (Minors) for more detail.
1.3 Game and Statistics Data
The Platform collects and stores game-related data entered by administrators and scorekeepers, including:
- Game schedules, scores, and results
- Individual and team statistics (goals, assists, penalties, goalie stats, etc.)
- Game recordings, start and end times, and related game events
- Suspension and disciplinary records
1.4 Automatically Collected Information
When Users access the Platform, we may automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- IP address and general geographic location
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and features used within the Platform
- Session duration and timestamps
This information is collected to operate, maintain, and improve the Platform and is not used to personally identify individual Users unless necessary for security or fraud prevention purposes.
1.5 Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Platform may use cookies and similar session technologies to maintain user sessions and preferences. We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral tracking. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though doing so may affect Platform functionality.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Platform and its features
- To process subscriptions and manage Organization accounts
- To display league standings, schedules, scores, and statistics on public-facing pages as directed by the Organization
- To send administrative communications such as account notices, support responses, and service updates
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity
- To improve and develop the Platform, including through analysis of aggregated, anonymized usage data
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell personal information to third parties. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.
3. How We Share Information
3.1 Public Display
Certain information entered into the Platform may be displayed publicly on league and team pages as configured by the Organization, including player names, statistics, and game results. Organizations control which information is made public. If you are a Player and wish to have your information removed from public display, please contact your Organization administrator.
3.2 Service Providers
We may share information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, including hosting providers, payment processors, and email service providers. These providers are contractually required to handle information only as directed by us and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
3.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of First Star Sports, its Users, or the public.
3.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, information held by us may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will provide notice before any such transfer and indicate if the new entity intends to use information in a materially different manner than described in this Privacy Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Platform and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law. Upon termination of an Organization's subscription, we will retain Organization Data for a period of 90 days, during which the Organization may request an export of its data. Thereafter, we will delete or anonymize the data in accordance with our standard data retention practices.
Aggregated, anonymized data derived from Platform usage may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement purposes.
5. Minors
The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. The Platform is provided to Organizations (businesses and associations) who manage sports leagues. When an Organization's league includes participants under the age of 13 or under the age of 18, the Organization is responsible for:
- Obtaining all necessary consents from parents or legal guardians prior to entering participant information into the Platform
- Complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and any other applicable laws governing the collection of information from minors
- Ensuring that any public display of minor participants' information is appropriate and consented to
If we become aware that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. To report a concern, contact us at contact@firststarsports.com.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we hold against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:
- HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted to and from the Platform
- Password hashing and secure credential storage
- Access controls limiting Platform access to authorized personnel
- Regular security reviews and updates
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your information, we will notify affected Organizations in accordance with applicable law.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information, including:
- The right to access the personal information we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention obligations
- The right to object to or restrict certain processing of your information
- The right to data portability (receiving your data in a structured, machine-readable format)
To exercise any of these rights, please contact your Organization administrator (for Player data entered by an Organization) or contact us directly at contact@firststarsports.com (for account or User data). We will respond to requests within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services (for example, USA Hockey's registration system). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access through or in connection with the Platform.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Platform, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this policy and provide notice to Organizations via email or through the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after such notice constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
